CONFIRMED: Sony Searching For a European Actress in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming 2’

Jan 20, 2018

Last month we at Omega Underground brought you exclusive audition tapes of European actresses reading for a part in Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. However, the tapes explicitly have the young actresses reading for the role of Gwen Stacy. So we speculated Sony and Marvel could be diverting from the characters comic book origins and make Gwen a foreign classmate of Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that was us speculating strictly based on the tapes..

Now That Hashtag Show has confirmed that Marvel is indeed on the hunt for a European actress in some type of mystery role. According to their sources, the European actress should be in her 20’s and will be a “Female Fatale” opposite star Tom Holland. They speculate this character may not end up being Gwen Stacy after all but could be Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat. However, it would be very odd to have a possible love interest of Peter Parker to be an adult when he is still in High School.  Let alone Silver and Black (Which features Black Cat & Silver Sable) are going into production in the coming months the same as Spider-Man 2.  They also mentioned it could be Jessica Drew or otherwise known as Spider-Woman in the comics.

Either way, a mysterious European female character is going to indeed be added in the Spider-Man sequel.  We will have to wait and see what comes of this new development. Filming begins May 28th in both the United Kingdom and Germany…

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 comes out July 5th, 2019
