CW Upfronts Give Us First Look at “Legends of Tomorrow” [SPOILERS]

May 14, 2015

CW Upfronts are today, and here’s my favorite news out of them so far: the very first trailer for CW’s newest addition to the DCTV universe, Legends of Tomorrow! Watch it and keep reading at your own risk.

So far? It looks amazing. We get a sneak peek at newcomer Ciara Renée as Hawkgirl (who looks AWESOME) and a somewhat unsurprising reveal about Caity Lotz’s return via the Lazarus Pit. Plus? Best of all? ever? In the history? Of DCTV to date?

That’s right, Rip Hunter has brought together this ragtag team of heroes and villains to fight one of the most intelligent, cunning, and downright dangerous villains in the entire DC canon: the immortal despot Vandal Savage, a foe who absolutely warrants a full-blown nascent justice league to have a hope of bringing him down. A menace from the beginning of time and beyond, Savage is to me one of the scariest villains DC can serve up, and the prospect of seeing him on TV means CW has me locked in for this fall.

Spoilers abound, but you will absolutely get a kick out of this trailer. I’m not too surprised they went to the Pit to bring fan-favorite Sara back, but it will be interesting to see how much of a resemblance she’ll have to the original and more villainous White Canary. Can we expect betrayal, or is DC/CW just copping the name to go a “Gandalf the White” route? And where is Ciara’s fellow newbie, Franz Drameh, who’s been teased to have a very surprising connection to the new team?

So far Legends of Tomorrow looks like it’s going to be a fun romp, and Arthur Davill and this season’s apparent Resident Dad Victor Garber will have their work cut out for them getting this team of future legends into shape. I for one can’t wait!
