David Yates’ ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ Will Begin Filming February 2020

Oct 19, 2019

The next ‘Fantastic Beasts,’ the third installment in the Warner Bros. franchise, will begin filming February 2020. Cast member Dan Fogler, who plays Jacob Kowalski, made the reveal at LeakyCon.

This news comes after the shoot start got several pushes, from July 2019 to late fall 2019 to spring 2020. More time was needed for the script and pre-production, hence the delays. Filming will take place at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom.

Moreover, the premise of the franchise is below:

In the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ series, Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), a collector and tamer of mystical beasts, makes his way through the secret wizard communities of New York, Paris and London during the late 1920s.

The cast also comprises of Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, and Ezra Miller. Johnny Depp played the role of the titular villain in the previous installment, while Jude Law came aboard to play young Albus Dumbledore. Zoë Kravitz is seemingly returning as well.

There are not many details on this movie, other than the fact the film will address a lot of unanswered plot questions.

David Yates (‘Harry Potter’ 5-8) is still onboard to direct the threequel, after helming the last two. The screenplay is once again from ‘Fantastic Beasts’ 1 and 2 scribe J.K. Rowling.

Meanwhile, composer James Newton Howard (‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy) and supervising art director Martin Foley (‘Hugo’) will both return.

Also, it seems that production designer Stuart Craig and cinematographer Philippe Rousselot could be returning. Craig has been the production designer of all the ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films. Rosselot has shot the Guy Ritchie ‘Sherlock Holmes’ films, ‘The Nice Guys,’ as well as the first and second ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films.

‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ will release November 12, 2021.
