It has been quite the year for comic book readers. Before we move onto 2022, here’s what GWW’s writers thought about Devil’s Reign, Swamp Thing: Green Hell and the other big books from the final week of 2021:
DEVIL’S REIGN #2
Marvel COmics
WRITER: CHIP ZDARSKY
ARTIST: MARCO CHECCHETTO
COLORIST: MARCIO MENYZ
LETTERER: CLAYTON COWLES
Devil’s Reign #2 continues the magnificent chaos of the previous issue with little punches pulled! From the start, villains are catching up to heroes left and right, and no hero is safe! If you’re tired of cosmic events and looking for more “on-the-ground” ones, this one is for you! — friendlynbhdbi … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

TIMELESS #1
Marvel Comics
WRITER: JED MACKAY
ARTISTS: GREG LAND, JAY LEISTEN, MARK BAGLEY, KEV WALKER, ANDREW HENNESSEY
COLORIST: MARTE GARCIA
LETTERER: ARIANA MAHER
First, some background — Kang has been EVERYWHERE in the comics. EVERYWHERE. He is a villain that exists throughout time in many different ages and forms. One of my earliest introductions to him was in the original Young Avengers comic, where up-and-coming MCU characters Patriot, Wiccan, Hulking, Kate Bishop, Stature, and Iron Lad were all introduced! In this line, we learned that Iron Lad was actually a version of Kang himself and that in the future he becomes Kang the Conqueror. Insane, right? — friendlynbhdbi… CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

Whether you are a self-proclaimed Swamp Thing diehard, or a newbie, Swamp Thing: Green Hell is for any fan. Any fan of the horror genre, or of Lemire and Mahnke’s.
DC Black Label is a beautiful thing. It’s the best place for creators to take liberties, and explore more about the characters than they could have in main line stories. With Green Hell’s case… — Emmet Davis … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

STRAY DOGS: DOG DAYS #1
Image Comics
Written BY: TONY FLEECS
ART BY: TRISH FORSTNER
COLORS BY: BRAD SIMPSON
With Sophie and the other dogs finally escaping from their murderous new owner, we wonder what happened that brought all of them together in the first place. This issue focuses on how Roxanne, Killer, Aldo, Other Henry, Gucci, and Imogene were captured and brought into the pack. The new series continues to deliver the same traumatic and emotional perspective as the original. — Brian Villar … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW

POWER RANGERS UNIVERSE #1
BOOM! Studios
WRITTEN BY: NICOLE ANDELFINGER
ART BY: SIMONE RAGAZZONI
COLORED BY: MATTIA IACONO
LETTERS BY ED DUKESHIRE
Be sure to check out the synopsis before reading this story. Otherwise, you’ll be confused throughout the entirety of Power Rangers Universe #1. Of course, that can happen sometimes with new stories and be a non-issue — whether or not you’re dealing with legacy characters — but it was an issue with this series opener. — Nick Friar … CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL REVIEW
