‘Don’t Breathe 2’ Taps ‘Evil Dead’ Co-Writer Rodo Sayagues to Direct

Jan 18, 2020

While ‘Don’t Breathe’ filmmaker Fede Alvarez won’t be returning to helm its sequel directly, it seems that he has tapped a capable successor. ‘Don’t Breathe 2’ (tentatively titled ‘Don’t Breathe Again’) will be directed by Rodo Sayagues, the 2016 horror film’s co-writer and a longtime collaborator of Alvarez. The duo wrote the short film ‘Panic Attack’ and the 2013 ‘Evil Dead’ reboot. This will be Sayagues’ directorial debut.

Though Alvarez won’t be directing the film, he co-wrote the script with Sayagues and remains attached to the film as a producer alongside Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert of Ghost House Pictures, and Good Universe. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisition with back the production along with its Stage 6 Films division.

Although details on the sequel remain scarce, Stephen Lang is set to reprise his role as Norman Nordstrom (also known as ‘The Blind Man’) and will come face to face with his ‘past sins‘ after having lived the past few years after the events of the first film in ‘quiet solace.‘ There is no word yet if Jane Levy will return as Rocky for the sequel yet or what other actors will join Lang in the film yet, but production is set to begin this April.

There is currently no release date as of now.
