The long-gestating solo film ‘Black Adam’ enlists Jaume Collet-Serra to direct. The Observer was the first to report the news, while producer Hiram Garcia confirmed it.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,’ ‘Ballers’) is still onboard to play the titular character.

Collet-Serra has collaborated several times with actor Liam Neeson, with Warner Bros.’ ‘Unknown,’ Univeral’s ‘Non-Stop,’ Warner Bros.’ ‘Run All Night,’ and Lionsgate’s ‘The Commuter.’ He also did Sony’s ‘The Shallows,’ starring Blake Lively. Next, he has Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise,’ also starring Johnson, releasing July 24, 2020.

The screenplay is from Adam Sztykiel (‘Due Date,’ ‘Rampage’). Characters like Hawkman, Stargirl, and Atom Smasher will appear in the film.

Moreover, filming will begin March 2020.

New Line Cinema has not given the film a release date yet.
