As we know by now, Ben Affleck is all in with DC. However, it was still a bit of a surprise to see the few DC Easter Eggs in The Accountant. As you can probably tell from the cast itself, there are a few interesting castings that do share some comic book relations. The Comic Book Parallels
First off, we’ve got Christian Wolff (played by Affleck), who has his own moral code and is pretty efficient in going about achieving results. He works alone and has a wide variety of skills. Does that sound familiar?
Next we’ve got J. K. Simmons, who plays Director Raymond King. He can easily be seen as a Commissioner Gordon type in the film.
Despite not agreeing with The Accountant‘s methods, he does see the greater good in working with Christian Wolff. This is very similar to how Commissioner Gordon turns a blind eye to Batman for the sake of the greater good.
As you watch the film, you may notice that Christian Wolff has some assistance over the phone: a female’s voice that gives him direction and advice. You could probably say that she’s very similar to Barbara Gordon a.k.a. Oracle.

Alison Wright’s character, Justine, acts very similarly to the Oracle. Here’s her picture in case you forgot.
I think that Jon Bernthal’s character, Braxton, is pretty self-explanatory if you’re familiar with the Marvel Netflix series. He’s not as ruthless, but it’s kind of hard to not think of him as The Punisher.
The Comic Book Easter Eggs
The most obvious one is probably one of Christian Wolff’s most valuable assets. This is kind of hard to miss since they showed it a few times. If you recall when he was in his trailer, he made sure to grab his copy of Action Comics #1, featuring Superman. This is a very obvious nod to his love for comics and, more specifically, the DC comic world.
The other Easter Egg was the chanting rhyme Christian Wolff says when having his episodes. It goes something like this:
Solomon Grundy, Born on a Monday, Christened on Tuesday, Married on Wednesday, Took ill on Thursday, Grew worse on Friday, Died on Saturday, Buried on Sunday, That was the end, Of Solomon Grundy.
That’s right, we’re talking about that Solomon Grundy. He’s the zombie-like villain that has crossed paths with Batman, Superman, and other DC heroes many times. It was nice to see that Easter Egg thrown in.
