EVERSPACE™ is an action-focused single-player space shooter, combining roguelike elements with top-notch visuals and a captivating story. It takes you on a challenging journey through an ever-changing, yet beautifully crafted universe full of surprises. Your skills, experience and talent for improvisation will be tested continuously while learning about your own existence through encounters with interesting characters, each having their own part of the puzzle to tell. Each run will be exciting as you will have to face completely new situations keeping each part of the game long-lasting and generating lots of individual, meaningful moments to experience. However, no matter how skilled a pilot you are, death is inevitable, but only the beginning of a much larger journey.
Graphics
Everspace boasts some truly impressive graphics on the Nintendo Switch. Both the details of the ship as well as the beauty in the vastness of space is rendered remarkably well. The ship designs are great and the combat graphics are amazing as well. There is a good amount of variation in the environmental designs so you never get the sense the you’re playing the same level as you progress from conflict to conflict.
Gameplay
The controls for maneuvering your ship and firing its weapons are simple, but effective. They work well for the Nintendo Switch controls both on the console and using the separate Power Grip controller. There is an impressive variation in the levels and battles. The experience changes and evolves based on how you play and what ship/weapons you choose to bring into battle. There are moments in a run where you will be jarred by an event happening in front of you and have to make a split-second decision under fire about how you’re going to proceed next.
Replayability
Beautiful graphics, varied gameplay and ship customization means that there is a varied level of play that allows for multiple experiences as you progress throughout the missions. A fun ride that is compelling in both look and playability.
