Ewan McGregor’s ‘Doctor Sleep’ To Begin Shooting In Atlanta At The End of September

Jul 10, 2018

Ewan McGregor is set to play an adult version of The Shining’s Danny in Doctor Sleep, a direct sequel which is based on the Stephen King’s novel. It was recently reported by Variety that Mission: Impossible – Fallout actress Rebecca Ferguson was in talks for a leading role.

We now have a production update to share.

Omega Underground has learned the Warner Bros. film is expected to begin shooting as early as September 24th in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mike Flanagan is set to direct with other key crew members already onboard as previously mentioned by us which includes production designer Maher Ahmad (Zombieland) and cinematographer Michael Fimognari (Gerald’s Game, Ouija: Origin of Evil).

Some had suggested Doctor Sleep could pump the breaks on a potential April start date for McGregor’s assumed return for Kenobi: A Star Wars Story, which seemingly is no longer a problem given Doctor Sleep’s fall start date. Lucasfilm has yet make their plans for the film public and from what we understand director Stephen Daldry never officially signed-on to the Star Wars spinoff but had been attached for Universal’s Wicked.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has set Doctor Sleep’s release date for January 24th, 2020.
