EXCLUSIVE: Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ Renewed For Season Two; Filming Begins June 17th & Wraps November 1st

We at GWW have learned that Amazon has already renewed their comic book adaptation ‘The Boys’ for a second season. The series is based on the comic book of the same name, by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

Filming of the second season begins June 17th & wraps November 1st in Toronto.

The premise of the first season is below:

‘”The Boys’ takes place in “a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame” and “revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.”

Moreover, the cast comprises of Karl Urban, Elisabeth Shue, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Laz Alonso, Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Jennifer Esposito, and Simon Pegg.

Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (‘Preacher,’ ‘Future Man’) and Eric Kripke (‘Supernatural,’ ‘Timeless’) are the developers of the show. Kripke wrote the pilot, while Dan Trachtenberg (’10 Cloverfield Lane,’ ‘Black Mirror: Playtest’) serves as director.

The series will premiere this summer.
