EXCLUSIVE: ‘Titans’ Season Two Character Breakdown Possibly Reveals Guardian

Feb 27, 2019

UPDATE: Iain Glen has been cast as Batman, which seemingly confirms that this breakdown was for him, not Guardian.

The GWW has exclusively obtained a new character breakdown for the second season of ‘Titans’ that may reveal a big character that could factor in well to next season’s story.

As indomitable as he is mysterious. Haunted by his past, Jack is a non-attention-seeking vigilante who’s dedicated his life to helping those in need. Underneath this ultimate gentleman is the ultimate fighting machine. But his success has come at a price, turning him into a sublime recluse. As Jack stops at nothing to ensure others have a better life than his own, the question looms large about whether he’ll ever be able to let down his walls.

The casting department is looking for a Caucasian male between his late 30s and late 40s. The part is labeled as a recurring guest star. It’s possible he’s only in one episode, as one character in the show last year was supposed to be a recurring guest star and ended up with a cameo (Shyleen Lao in episode four). Character breakdowns like these are often a lot more in depth than the actual character ends up being as well.

While we don’t have any definite information about who Jack Cole is at this time, it’s very likely he ends up being Jim Harper, aka Guardian. In the comics, Jim Harper was a vigilante who was eventually cloned at CADMUS Labs before he died. The clone ended up moving to Metropolis and becoming a vigilante there. In the animated series Young Justice, Jim Harper’s clone played a very significant role in the Superboy/CADMUS storyline that is seemingly being adapted in some form due to the fact that Joshua Orpin was cast as Superboy (who will be in 10/13 episodes) today and we saw Superboy escape CADMUS in the ‘Titans’ season finale. Not only that, but another character breakdown we revealed a few weeks ago seemed to imply we’d see Lex Luthor in the show, who also played a major role in Superboy’s story in the comics. It only makes sense we’d see Guardian in some capacity as well.

‘Titans’ hails from Greg Walker and Geoff Johns and stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Ryan Potter, and Teagan Croft. The entire first season is available on DC Universe in the US and on Netflix internationally.
