Thanks to HN Entertainment, we also know the film will be shooting at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden.

Justin Lin is returning to the director’s chair for this installment of the mainline ‘Fast & Furious’ films. It will be the tenth film overall, as the true ninth film is ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,’ releasing August 2, starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. ‘Fast 9’ originally had a date of April 19, 2019, then got a push to April 10, 2020, and will now release May 22, 2020. The recent pushback was to accommodate the Rock and Stath spin-off. Hopefully Memorial Day weekend will be the right choice for the almost 20-year-old franchise.

Additionally, Lin was at the helm for four different ‘Fast’ movies, the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth films. Now, he will take on both nine and ten, wrapping up the flagship side of the franchise. Then, the doors will be open for more spin-offs, including the female-led film, which is in development by Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Lindsey Beer. ‘Fast & Furious 10′ is still dated for April 2, 2021.

Moreover, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, and Nathalie Emmanuel should all be returning. However, Dwayne Johnson said to MTV News during the Sundance Film Festival that he will not be in ‘Fast 9.’ But, there is still “unfinished business” between his character Hobbs and Diesel’s character Toretto, which means he could very well be back for ‘Fast & Furious 10.’

Gibson in particular is currently on-set for Sony’s ‘Morbius,’ which is also filming in London. That film should be wrapping on-or-around May 21. This lines up perfectly with Diesel’s timeframe of late May or early June.

Meanwhile, pre-production is currently underway in London, England.

Fast & Furious 9’ will compete against Paramount’s ‘The SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge.’ The Warner Bros. crossover event ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ was going to release May 22nd as well, but moved up to March 13, 2020 to avoid ‘Fast 9.’
