First look at Hyper Universe at PAX South
One of our favorite games on the show floor during PAX South, Hyper Universe, is the first MOBA from Nexon. We got hands-on with the game, and although the game I played was merely a demo, this one can potentiall give other MOBAs a run for their money in the future.
In Hyper Universe, players can play as one of multiple characters known as “Hypers”, each with their own custom abilities. There are twelve Hyper’s (so far), and they are divided into six classes. You play one of two teams as you face off against the other enemy until you’ve destroyed their base.
The gameplay is fast-paced and exciting as characters drop Bombs and Snowmen at enemies. That’s right, Snowmen. These characters are so outrageous, but it the best possible way. There is a mongoose riding an armored rhinoceros and a tentacled Admiral with the power of the kraken at his call.
Some of the Key features you won’t want to miss about Hyper Universe:
- Reimagined Side–Scrolling MOBA Levels: In a unique twist on the MOBA genre, players are challenged with five turrets to dominate and defend across a seven–level high, side–scrolling map with new map variants in development.
- Six Dynamic Character Types: Players have their choice from a diverse set of both new and traditional MOBA roles that create a frenetic battlefield dripping with synergistic opportunities.
- Inspired by Pop Culture: Hyper Universe offers a multitude of distinctive playable characters, called Hypers, inspired by legendary icons in popular culture.
- Action–Oriented Mayhem: MOBA fans will jump into the fray with two handed keyboard controls, dashing and jumping across the game map toward victory.
So far the game is slated to be releasted on PC. No word on console yet. No official release date yet. Hyper Universe is being developed by CWAVESOFT and published by Nexon America Inc.
