The Lotus was provided by FlexiSpot for the purpose of this review.

If you’re looking for a comfortable chair for gaming, reading, or even a little snuggling, the Lotus will fit the bill. Coming in at $739.99 as tested, this chair can be configured in many ways from the material to the motorization. Please visit FlexiSpot’s site to see all of the options. I was sent the fabric version with an electric motor and “holder”, which is a phone mount that doubles as a charger. While I’d love to test the leather model, I think fabric is the best for comfort throughout the year.

Overview

For my purposes, I have the Lotus in my home office, positioned in front of my television where my Switch 2 and PS5 are connected. My son mostly uses this space, sometimes while I’m working at my desk. Prior to the Lotus, we had a nice swivel rocker chair in this position. But for me, being a full sized adult, I needed a separate footrest and now that my kids are past the toddler stage, they couldn’t sit with me on the chair. So I had to use my office chair whenever, for example, my son and I wanted to do some gaming together. Now, with the Lotus’s larger base, he (6 years old) and I can sit together and extend the footrest to comfortably game for hour-plus long gaming sessions. We’re currently going through the campaign of Marvel Cosmic Invasion and, sometimes, it gets tense! Being able to change positions is helpful.

What is also helpful is the embedded holder, which is found on the left side. Open it up and you can store a 13”-14” laptop, documents, and magazines. I mainly use it to store handwritten and printed gaming notes for games like Metroid Prime 4. Another helpful addition is the phone holder. The arm is made of a rigid assembly, which allows for many snake-like orientations for optimal comfort. Typically, while I’m gaming alone, I will play a podcast or music from my phone. Having this holder is perfect addition to my preferred setup.

I’m thankful FlexiSpot sent me the fabric material version rather than leather. I find leather to be too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer (my office windows are usually open). The fabric is soft and breathable. I find when I sit or lay on the Lotus that I sink in just a little bit into it. Which brings me to my second use case: reading.

In addition to gaming, I use the lotus for long reading sessions. Either for work or personal enjoyment. I’m a Kindle fan and I own a Remarkable Pro tablet for note taking. Often, before an important meeting I’ll sit for several minutes reading through notes on my Remarkable and then prep a new page for what I expect to happen in the next meeting. While placing the Remarkable on a flat surface is ideal, I’ve been so relaxed on the Lotus that I can live without a firm writing surface. As for reading, that’s when I like to roll the Lotus to its near-flat position. With a small pillow under my head, I lean to my side and read in that position for 20-30 minutes. I can image others with a better attention span can do this for hours.

Assembly

The Swivel Rocker Recliner ships in two boxes. One of which is heavy and large enough that you will need a second person to help you carry it. The overall assembly process took me about 30 minutes. All parts and tools are included in the packaging, but the extend of tools is simply an Allen wrench. The most challenging part of the assembly, which I did completely by myself, is understanding that in order to attach the footrest to the frame you will need to plug in the recliner and use the buttons to extend the bracket forward. This will position the frame such that the footrest can be screwed in properly. The instructions also call for one side to be locked into place after placing the screws and before screwing in the second part. I didn’t have to do that.

Once assembled, I was able to drag the recliner into the position of my office that I wanted it without scratching my hardwood floors. And I was able to compress the two boxes into my recycling bin for pickup the next day. Win!

Who is this For?

While I do think the $729.99 price tag is justified, I can more easily recommend the Lotus during FlexiSpot’s regular sales. Right now, it’s just $620. For those seeking a comfortable rocker and recliner, with multiple options for configuration, I can’t recommend the Lotus enough. It’s very comfortable and easy to assemble. While additional color options would appeal to a larger audience, I personally love the Light Gray of the fabric model. Lastly, keep in mind this chair does it all: recline, rock, and swivel. For my office space, which is just 120 square feet, consolidation is key. I need a single chair that can do it all and the Lotus hits the mark.
