Food Wars Co-Creator Yuto Tsukuda Attending Anime Expo 2017

May 26, 2017

If you’re heading to Anime Expo this year and you love the culinary anime hit, FOOD WARS! (Shokugeki no Soma), then you don’t want to miss your chance to see FOOD WARS! co-creator Yuto Tsukuda. Anime Expo will be open July 1st-4th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and convention organizers will be flying in Yuto Tsukuda as an official guest of honor.

“FOOD WARS! has captivated manga fans with a tasty mix of comedy and over-the-top culinary battles, and we are very excited to partner with Anime Expo to welcome Yuto Tsukuda as a Guest of Honor at this year’s show,” says Andy Nakatani, Editor-in-Chief, WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP. “We look forward to celebrating the success of FOOD WARS! and to providing Anime Expo attendees some very special opportunities to meet the writer and catch some of his personal insights on the series!”

Viz Media, who licenses JUMP in North America, will have a booth set up at the event as well (#2206). In case you don’t have a copy of FOOD WARS! on hand, you’ll be able to grab a copy for Mr. Tsukuda to sign. He’ll be doing two in-person autograph sessions at the event. VIZ will have plenty available, including exclusive advance copies of the latest release, Volume 19. You’ll also want to swing by to check out their special FOOD WARS premium giveaways throughout the Independence Day weekend.

Yuta Tsukuda will also be participating in two-panel discussions over the weekend. Details are still being worked out so event times and information will be posted at a later date. For more info, you can check out VIZ.com and get your tickets now at Anime-Expo.org.

FOOD WARS! is a culinary tale about Soma Yukihira and his desire to become an excellent chef, just like his father. His father, Joichiro, gets a new job that requires a lot of travel, but he ensures Soma doesn’t stay unchallenged. He enrolls Soma into an elite culinary school that wears a tough 10% graduation rate like a badge of honor. There he meets many other talented chefs, but does he have the chops to make the cut? Read it to find out.
