I’ve been talking about how Fox’s Alita: Battle Angel had the most to lose with it’s December 21st release date and sounds like the studio has accepted that it would be a bad idea to have it go against movies fellow big budgeted projects like Mary Poppins Returns, Bumblebee and Aquaman.
Deadline now reports that Alita has now taken Dark Phoenix’s February 14th, 2019 spot with Dark Phoenix taking Gambit’s old release date of June 7th, 2019. The outlet also reaffirms our reporting that Gambit still seems to be on Fox’s to-do-list as it’s been given a new release date of March 13th, 2020.
All of which I predicted would happen over the summer (outside of pin-pointing Gambit’s new date).
It’s been rumored Alita has the biggest budget in the bunch and risks the biggest loses overall if it had stayed on.
