Ben Edlund’s comedic spoof on the superhero genre The Tick is getting new life at the streaming service Amazon Prime.
The series, based on the 1986 comic by Edlund tells the story of nascent superhero The Tick and his sidekick former accountant Arthur. Together, both men try to save the city from threats either together or with the help of an equally absurd group of fellow superheroes who inhabit The City.
Amazon Prime produced a pilot for a new live-action series based on the comic and gave the greenlight for a series after receiving positive feedback from viewers. The series is a joint venture with Sony and Edlund will both write and Executive Produce the series along with Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black). The series will debut on Amazon Prime August 25, 2017.
