New from Top Cow comes Haunt You to The End by writer Ryan Cady and artist Andrea Mutti. Set in the future, where unchecked global warming has caused the gradual decay of the world, the story follows reporter Matt Park as he accompanies Callum Shah in search of answers about the existence of an afterlife and the reality of ghosts at the most haunted island in the world.

Like many first issues, Haunt You constructs a world dealing with the paranormal and catastrophic events. As the group embarks on their mission, we witness the clash of these themes, resulting in various problems. With the perfect setting of being at the most haunted house on a remote island, one can hope for more chilling moments in upcoming issues.

The issue has several positive aspects but also suffers in other areas. One notable concern is the characterization. Many of the characters conform to horror movie stereotypes in their motivations for joining the expedition. The dialogue also reinforces these stereotypes, affecting the depth of the characters.

Overall, Haunt You to The End offers an intriguing start and has the potential to further develop its unique environmental backdrop. Despite the somewhat uninteresting characters, the story is an enjoyable read with captivating themes and ideology to explore and ponder on. Hopefully, in the next few issues, they will delve deeper into Isla Lodo and unravel the truth about ghosts and the location.
