‘Hawkeye’ Disney+ Miniseries Enlists ‘Mad Men’ Writer Jonathan Igla as Showrunner

Sep 6, 2019

The upcoming ‘Hawkeye’ miniseries now has Jonathan Igla onboard as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.

Igla recently wrote an episode of the Facebook Watch series ‘Sorry for Your Loss.’ He was also a story editor and writer on the acclaimed AMC series ‘Mad Men.’ Other credits include Showtime’s ‘Masters of Sex,’ FOX’s ‘Pitch,’ and Hulu’s ‘Shut Eye.’

Meanwhile, Jeremy Renner (‘The Hurt Locker,’ ‘Wind River’) will reprise the role of the titular character. He was recently in the #1 highest grossing movie of all time: ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ His other appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe comprise of ‘Thor,’ ‘The Avengers,’ ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War.’

Moreover, the premise of the series is below:

“An adventure series in which Clint Barton (Renner), a non-superpowered hero, is trying to teach another hero with an affinity for the bow, Kate Bishop, how to be a hero with no super powers.”

That’s right, the series will include Kate Bishop! She has not been cast yet. But, this is very much the beginning for the set-up of the Young Avengers.

Further, the series will likely be six episodes long. There is currently no director as of now.

‘Hawkeye’ will premiere fall 2021, on the Disney+ streaming service.
