HBO Gives Filming Dates to ‘Westworld’ and ‘Lovecraft Country’

Jan 18, 2019

Two highly anticipated shows are finally getting ready to film.

‘Westworld’ Season 3 will begin filming around March and will wrap in September. Locations will include Melody Ranch Studio in Santa Clarita, California, and Moab, Utah. These new dates are updated from the previous talk of it starting up over the fall.

‘Lovecraft Country’ will be shooting in Atlanta, Georgia with production taking place from April to December. Yann Demange (‘White Boy Rick’) will be directing the first episode. Jordan Peele (‘Get Out,’ ‘Us’) and Misha Green (‘Underground’) are co-creators of the show. Moreover, the cast reportedly consists of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aunjanue Ellis, Jonathan Majors, Michael Kenneth Williams, Wunmi Mosaku, Courtney B. Vance, and Elizabeth Debicki.

The premise of the show:

Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. Thus begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is producing ‘Lovecraft Country.’ Further, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot produces both ‘Lovecraft Country’ and ‘Westworld.’

In short, expect both shows to premiere sometime in 2020, on HBO.
