Shazam may finally have found a director in Swedish filmmaker David F. Sandberg.

According to The Wrap, Sandberg who helmed last year’s horror Lights Out and has the Annabelle sequel coming out this summer, is in talks with New Line (sister studio of Warner Bros.) to direct Shazam.

“Shazam, formerly Captain Marvel is a DC Comics superhero. Billy Batson is a young boy who was chosen to be a champion of good by the wizard Shazam. Whenever Billy speaks the wizard’s name, he is transforms into an adult superhero with the abilities of six legendary figures.”

The Rock has been attached to star as the film’s anti-villain Black Adam for years now. Last month it was announced that Black Adam will be receiving a solo outing set within the DC Extended Universe.

The film has yet to cast the titular role of Shazam, but with things starting to take shape behind the camera it shouldn’t be to long before we get casting news.
