James Gunn Reveals David Bowie Was Wanted For ‘Guardians 2’ Role

Jan 11, 2016

We tragically lost the superstar and potential god-like alien David Bowie to cancer. It’s a sad day for sure, but there was something cool that might have gone down for the Guardians of The Galaxy sequel if he had stuck around Earth a little longer.

James Gunn reveals on Facebook that David Bowie was considered by himself and Marvel for a role in Guardians 2.

“Just a very short while ago Kevin Feige and I were talking about a cameo role in Guardians Vol. 2, and he brought up Bowie’s name. I told him nothing in the world would make me happier, but I heard from common friends he wasn’t doing well. We heard back that he was okay and it could potentially happen. Who knows what that was about? But, for whatever reason, it made my Twitter revelation more of a surprise.”

Bowie took a lot of inspiration from science-fiction and fantasy for his music and film careers.
