James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is one of the most anticipated blockbusters to (hopefully) release in the next year. This is partly due to its colorful cast of characters, including John Cena’s Peacemaker.

Clearly, WarnerMedia are enthused by the character as well, because he will soon be getting his own dedicated eight-episode spin-off series on HBO Max. Gunn will direct the pilot and Cena will return to play the title role.

Described as an action-comedy series, Peacemaker will follow the origins of Cena’s character, a man dedicated to finding peace no matter how many people he has to kill to achieve it.

No other information has been released about the series or the character, but we’ll get a glimpse at Cena’s character on August 6, 2021, when The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters.
