‘Malignant,’ New Line’s upcoming secret horror film from director James Wan (‘The Conjuring,’ ‘Aquaman’), formerly titled ‘Silvercup,’ will release August 14, 2020.

Moreover, Ingrid Bisu does more than star in the film, as she also crafted the story with Wan. However, the screenplay credit is still unclear.

The other cast members include Jake Abel, Maddie Hasson, Jacqueline McKenzie, Annabelle Wallis, Michole Briana White, and George Young.

Additionally, back on August 2nd, Wan gave some insight on this new project on Instagram:

“I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets.”

Further, filming is currently underway in Los Angeles. We at the GWW can also confirm the wrap date is currently November 27th. Next up after this passion project, at the top of 2020, Wan will start pre-production on Warner Bros.’ ‘Aquaman 2,’ releasing December 16, 2022.

Meanwhile, ‘Malignant’ will be up against Sony’s ‘Escape Room 2,’ Universal’s ‘Nobody,’ and Disney’s ‘The One and Only Ivan.’
