John Carpenter Isn’t Thrilled About New ‘Big Trouble In Little China’ Movie – Questions The Motivations of Studio and Producers

Despite recent quotes from producer Hiram Garcia about the upcoming Big Trouble In Little China movie starring Dwayne Johnson about being an “continuation”, writer-director John Carpenter isn’t terribly impressed with what they’re doing.

While speaking with CinemaBlend, John Carpenter didn’t hold back on his opinion on the soft-reboot/sequel/remake (whatever they end up doing) and it sounds like the people involved haven’t including him in the development.

“They want a movie with Dwayne Johnson. That’s what they want. So they just picked that title. They don’t give a shit about me and my movie. That movie wasn’t a success.”

Keep in mind, the project is still only in the script phase without a director and considering Johnson’s busy schedule it’s unlikely going to happen anytime soon. There is a good chance it won’t ever happen if Carpenter continues to pile on the shade, as fans would be less likely to support it despite producer chatter of it not being a complete remake.
