Kathleen Kennedy Extends Her Contract With Lucasfilm To 2021 Debunking Exit Rumors

Sep 28, 2018

Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy recently earned an Oscar (Irving G. Thalberg Award) for her extensive and successful career as a producer. Today, it’s been revealed by THR that Kennedy has signed-on to extend her contract with Lucasfilm for another three years cementing her position at the studio arm and overseeing the Star Wars franchise until at least 2021.

Kathleen Kennedy has reignited her lightsaber. The lead producer and architect of the Star Wars franchise has renewed her contract to remain president of Lucasfilm for another three years, through 2021, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

There could be future extensions beyond that as well.

This would debunk multiple rumors that have been circulating that Kennedy was on the outs with Disney and was about be fired/quit. The rumblings were also amplified by unruly Star Wars fans on YouTube and elsewhere online that believe she is “ruining” the franchise, echoing these unsupported stories making the rounds.

Sorry folks, she’s sticking around for the time being time to accept it.
