Keanu Reeves’ ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ Will Now Begin Filming June 24th & Wrap August 17th in New Orleans

Jun 1, 2019

After a multitude of setbacks and delays, the long-gestating third ‘Bill & Ted’ film will now begin filming June 24th and wrap August 17th in New Orleans and Los Angeles.

Keanu Reeves (‘John Wick’) and Alex Winter (‘The Lost Boys’) will be reprising their roles as the titular characters. Also, William Sadler (‘The Shawshank Redemption’) is returning to play the Grim Reaper. The late George Carlin will also appear as Rufus in the form of archival footage.

The synopsis of the time-travel comedy is as follows:

“When we last picked up with the most audacious dudes they were time-traveling teenagers trying to pass history class and win the battle of the bands. Once prophesied to save the universe with their rock ‘n’ roll, according to the production the new movie will see the two best friends as middle-aged men with family responsibilities who have yet to fulfill their destiny. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever.

With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns the duo that only their music can save life as we know it. Out of luck and inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on another time-travel adventure — with the help of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures and some sympathetic music legends — to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it.”

Meanwhile, more casting announcements should be coming soon. The two daughters in particular should be cast very soon.

Moreover, director Dean Parisot (‘Galaxy Quest, RED 2’) is onboard. The screenplay is from returning scribes Chris Matheson (‘A Goofy Movie’) and Ed Solomon (‘Men in Black’). The veteran writing duo are responsible for ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ and ‘Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.’

‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ will release August 21, 2020.
