SDCC 19: Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi’ Title Announced; Starring Tony Leung as The Real Mandarin

During Marvel Studios Phase 4 presentation it was announced that the first Asain-Lead superhero film Shang-Chi will star Asain-Candian unknown Simu Liu. The title of the film is called Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. The upcoming film will also star comedian Awkwafina (Ocean’s 8, Crazy Rich Asians) and Tony Leung as the “real” Mandarin. As there was a massive backlash from fans when Ben Kingsley played “The Mandarin” in Iron Man 3 to only be revealed as a parody actor named Trevor taking on the persona of the real Mandarin. However, in the short film “All Hail The King” the terrorist group the Ten Rings abducted Trevor Slattery from prison for his insolence towards the Mandarin. The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and hit February 12th, 2021
