Paramount now has official release dates for the next two ‘Mission Impossible’ installments. ‘Mission Impossible 7’ will land July 23, 2021, with ‘Mission Impossible 8’ just over a year later on August 5, 2022.
Moreover, Christopher McQuarrie is returning to write and direct both films. Tom Cruise is coming back as the famous Impossible Mission Force agent Ethan Hunt.
McQuarrie was the first to break the tradition of different directors helming each film in the franchise. He came back to direct the sixth film ‘Fallout’ after doing the fifth film ‘Rogue Nation.’
With ‘Fallout’ grossing more than $790 million worldwide, the best of the franchise, it made sense to lock down McQuarrie again. With Cruise also accepting the next missions, they have a recipe for success.
It is unknown if these next two films will be made as a two-parter, as the final films, or both.
