According to TheHollywoodReporter and Collider, Warner Bros. Animation has announced two new DC animated series coming exclusively to HBO MAX and Cartoon Network. ‘BATMAN CAPED CRUSADERS’ and ‘MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN.’ Both sound very exciting to me personally! It’s been years since we’ve had a proper animated Superman series, so with a return to animated worlds of both characters will sure to be a delight.
‘BATMAN CAPED CRUSADER’
Matt Reeves and JJ Abrams are reuniting once again, teaming up with animated Batman veteran Bruce Timm to craft a re-imagining of the Batman mythos. Matt Reeves and JJ Abrams in the past have worked on TheWB series Felicity and the Cloverfield film franchise.
“Batman: The Animated Series was a masterpiece that shaped the perception of the character for an entire generation of fans,” said Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register. “It is in that spirit that we are bringing together three master storytellers in J.J., Matt and Bruce – each with their own intuitive understanding and affection for the character – to create a new series that will continue in the same groundbreaking legacy.”
The plot details we have received so far: “Utilizing state-of-the-art animation techniques and technologies available, this powerful creative partnership will once again reinvent Batman and his iconic rogue’s gallery with sophisticated storytelling, nuanced characters and intense action sequences all set in a visually striking world.”
With the mention of “utilizing state-of-the-art animation techniques, it makes me wonder if the series will be animated like a painting, as how the teaser poster looks.
‘my adventures with superman’
Starring ‘The Boys‘ Jack Quaid and ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ Alice Lee in the roles of Superman and Lois Lane, comes ‘My Adventures With Superman.’ A new animated series about the everyday life adventures of couple Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and their best friend Jimmy Olsen as they learn how to become the hottest investigative reporting team at the Daily Planet.
The official synopsis of the series is: In this serialized coming-of-age story, we follow Clark as he builds his secret Superman identity and embraces his role as the hero of Metropolis - and perhaps the world. Lois, now growing into a star investigative journalist, takes aspiring photographer Jimmy Olsen under her wing. All the while, Clark and Lois are falling in love, sharing adventures, taking down bad guys, stumbling over secrets, and discovering what it means to be Superman and Lois Lane.
My Adventures with Superman is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation, with President of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios Sam Register serving as executive producer. Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher are attached as co-executive producers, with Josie Campbell as co-producer.
I myself am personally very excited for both of these. I think Warner Bros. Animation has been doing very well with their recent animated DC films such as ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’ and ‘Batman: Soul of the Dragon.’ So it’s nice to see more original animated content.
