Oscar-Winning ‘Blade Runner 2049’ VFX Supervisor John Nelson Joins Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’

As casting heats up with Timothee Chalamet reportedly in talks with Denis Villenevue and Legendary to lead their Dune reboot as Paul Atreides.

We have word of a key crew addition to the film.

Omega Underground has now learned that Denis will reunite with visual effects supervisor John Nelson, who won an Oscar earlier in the year for Best Visual Effects because of his stunning work on Blade Runner 2049.

When you have to world build on the level of Star Wars it helps to have some massive talent behind you.

There is a slim chance that cinematographer Roger Deakins could make a return for Dune but if he signs on to return for Bond 25 it’s more likely Denis will instead call upon Arrival’s Bradford Young.

Young recently worked on Solo: A Star Wars Story could be a massive asset for them if they’re planning on filming two movies.

We previously revealed that filming is expected to begin sometime this February in Budapest, Hungary at Orgio Film Studio, where Blade Runner 2049 shot.
