As Marvel’s phase 3 ramps up, they know they need to raise the stakes across all their solo films. We have already heard rumors of a character death on the set of Captain America: Civil War, but now thanks to Latino Review, we may have to mourn another fan favorite in Thor: Ragnarok. As Marvel’s first cinematic arc comes to a close in phase 3 and Thanos descends upon Earth, we know our heroes will make huge sacrifices on the road to closing their stories. What we know of Thor: Ragnarok so far is it will be a sort of “End of Days” story and will feature villains Loki and Hela facing off against Thor and the Hulk.

According to Latino Review, to deal a truly emotional blow to our hero, Hela will kill one of his greatest allies and friends… Heimdall (Idris Elba). We may have seen this scenario foreshadowed in Avengers: Age of Ultron during Thor’s vision, in which he sees Heimdall; who warns our hero of the coming “Hel.” Further evidence that Elba maybe leaving the franchise, is that the actor isn’t particularity fond of the role. If you remember before Avengers: Age of Ultron came out, Elba spoke out against the film; its rigorous schedule and the fact that Marvel pretty much owned him.

Obviously fans won’t be happy about this one as Heimdall was definitely a highlight of the Thor franchise, but if Latino Review’s report is true, then the hero will pop up again later in the film (still dead) as Hela and her undead army face off against Valkyries of Valhalla and it’s fallen warriors. Here we will see Hemidal fighting on the side of Valhalla in one last heroic moment against Hela’s undead.

As we know with Marvel and comic book properties, death isn’t always permanent, but unfortunately if this is true… I think this one will stick. Elba is becoming too big of a star to play a supporting character who maybe gets a scene or two. In the grand scheme of things his death makes sense, as it won’t hurt the franchise too much and allows the actor to break ties and pursue other roles.

At an early age I knew I loved two things more than anything else Comic Books and Video Games and no matter how hard my parents tried they couldn't keep me away from the capes and pixels. Now that I have a wife and child of my own I can't wait to share these vast worlds and experiences with them and hopefully you! With GWW I created and become editor of the comics section, which has now become the websites most popular area and features daily post with unique Comic editorials, reviews and previews. Along with Will Elizondo we started the GWW Capes Crew podcast. A weekly show dedicated to to all things Comics, Superheros and Sequential Art. After a year of creating content for GWW I was made its Editor in Chief. I love everything I do and can't think of a better way to spend my time than to spread every form of geekery to every corner of the globe. Comics will all be my passion though and were my heart lies.
