Rebecca Ferguson In Negotiations To Join Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ As Lady Jessica

It was recently revealed that Timothee Chalamet was in talks to play the leading role of Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune remake for Legendary Pictures.

Now, there is word from THR that Mission: Impossible – Fallout actress Rebecca Ferguson is in negotiations to play role of Paul’s young mother Lady Jessica¬†Atreides in the film.

The role was originally played by actress Francesca Annis in the 1984 film from director David Lynch.

Paul and Jessica (pregnant with her daughter Alia Atreides) are the two survivors of the House Atreides and attempt to find safety among the local population of Dune as they build their own army. Both are essentially the leads of the film.

Production as we’ve reported was recently bumped from February to March, but is still expected to take place in Budapest, Hungary.

Legendary has yet to give the film an official release date.
