RUMOR: ‘Solo’ and ‘Rogue One’ Stunt Coordinator Might Be Joining ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

Jul 26, 2018

Omega Underground has been revealing some key crew members for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX over the last couple months from supervising art director to costume designer to creature effects designer to visual effects supervisor.

We now have another possible role filled and this time concerning the action scenes in the film. As we are hearing that Australian stunt coordinator Brad Allan is likely going to be part of the stunt team of Episode IX, but it’s not confirmed.

It does make a lot of sense though as Allan was recently the stunt coordinator on Solo: A Star Wars Story and was uncredited on the reshoots for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

His other various stunt credits include Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Wonder Woman, Kick-Ass, Scott Pilgrim, Hellboy II, Avatar, The World’s EndPacific Rim, Rush Hour 3, and Ninja Assassin.

Brad was also a second unit director on Solo and the Kingsman films.

My assumption is that they might be adding a little more action this time, considering that the Knights of Ren might be making their non-vision debut in the series. Certainly, Brad could help them amp-up a couple of action scenes to top the Throne Room battle from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, as cool as that was they weren’t fighting former Jedi students.

As far as I know, filming has yet to begin on Episode IX but will soon. I imagine an official announcement from Lucasfilm concerning the new casting will likely kick-off the start of filming.

Lucasfilm has set the release date for Star Wars: Episode IX on December 20th, 2019.
