RUMOR: Wishlist Revealed For Lead Role In Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’

Mar 6, 2019

With a summer 2021 release date set, Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ is possibly starting the casting process.

The GWW has obtained a list of five names that are seemingly on a wishlist for the role of Bruce Wayne himself. Since we couldn’t get this confirmed, we’re labeling it a rumor for now, so take it with a big grain of salt.

  • Jack Reynor
  • Alexander Ludwig
  • Jack O’Connell
  • Aaron Taylor-Johnson
  • Nicholas Hoult

Reynor, who is 27 years old and stands at 6’0”, previously appeared in ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ and has a leading role in Ari Aster’s upcoming horror thriller ‘Midsommar.’

Ludwig, who stars in the History Channel’s ‘Vikings’, ‘The Hunger Games’, and the upcoming ‘Bad Boys For Life’, is 26 years old is 6’2”.

‘Godless’ actor Jack O’Connell is 28 years old and stands at 5’8”.

Taylor-Johnson (29, 5’11”) portrayed Quicksilver in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and started in both ‘Kick-Ass’ movies.

Hoult (29, 6’3”) can be seen as Beast in multiple ‘X-Men’ movies, including the upcoming ‘Dark Phoenix’, as well as a JRR Tolkien biopic due out later this year.

So, even though a few of these names have come up in the past, this list is narrowed down and a lot more specific. All five of these actors are very similar in age, height, and overall look for the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. However, it is unlikely that any of these people end up landing the role, as past precedent has shown it is unusual for the people on wish lists to ever end up working out. But, if it’s any consolation, this list helps to give an idea about what kind of actor either the studio or Reeves are seeking out.

That Hashtag Show first reported that O’Connell was eyed for a role in the movie.
