Ryan Reynolds Free Guy the Movie With Shawn Levy
Deadpool is making the jump to video games and teaming with ‘Stranger Things’ producer for a new take on video game movies. ‘Free Guy’ will follow a man as he realizes he is a background character in a popular video game. You can read the official description below.
The story centers on a background character who realizes he’s living in a video game. With the help of an avatar, he tries to prevent the makers of the game from shutting down his world.
The spec script, for Free Guy the movie was written by Matt Lieberman and picked up by Fox in 2016.
In addition to starring as Guy, Ryan Reynolds, along with Shawn Levy, Greg Berlanti, and Sara Schechter are producing the film. Free Guy the movie will be released in theaters August 13, 2021 after an initial pandemic delayed date of July 3, 2021.

Free Guy the movie poster is action-packed and ready to go with Reynolds playing a much more subdued (dare we say nice) role than we’ve grown accustomed to! But like they say ‘…a picture is worth a thousand words’ and this could be proven yet again based on what we are hearing.
Not to take anything away from the yet-to-be-released movie from 20th Century Studios and Director Shawn Levy, but this poster is an experience on its own.”
Shawn Levy’s Free Guy the movie now has the stunt coordinator from Hobbs and Shaw and the Kingsman cinematographer onboard. The 20th Century Fox movie will mark Levy’s return to film since ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’ in 2014 after a longish stint doing shows like Stranger Things.
