Jul 19, 2018

Well, someone finally grabbed that open release date on July 26th, 2019.

The spot originally had both Universal’s Hobbs & Shaw and Paramount’s new Terminator film set to release on the same date until both films jumped out of the date leaving it vacant for another big studio film take their place.

Sony Pictures has placed Quentin Tarantino‘s next film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in the release date. Bumping it up from it’s oringal release on August 9th, 2019.

The original date was to be on the 50th Anniversary of the murder of Sharon Tate, who Margot Robbie plays in the film. Current assumption is that Sony didn’t want to seem opportunistic of the anniversary.

Hollywood is set during the summer of 1969 in Los Angeles, focusing on a TV actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double (Brad Pitt) attempt to break into films. The Manson murders are expected to be part of the backdrop and not specifically the focus of the film.

The rest of the cast includes Tim Olyphant, Burt Reynolds,Luke Perry, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Emile Hirsch, Clifton Collins Jr., James Marsden, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Keith Jefferson, Zoe Bell, and Nicholas Hammond.
