The CW’s “Powerpuff Girls” Adds Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, And Yana Perrault as The Titular Heroes

Mar 12, 2021

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, and Yana Perrault will start in Heather Regnier, Diablo Cody and Greg Berlanti’s CW adaptation of The Powerpuff Girls.

The show has already been ordered to pilot and will follow the female superhero team as disillusioned 20 year olds as they deal with the fallout of being childhood superheroes forced to fight crime and not normal kids.

Dove Cameron will portray Bubbles, “the nice one” as a child and as she grows to adulthood she still has the sweet exterior but has grown tougher and more sarcastic with age. Bubbles is chasing fame in this new incarnation and it appears to be her focus as heroism takes a back seat.

Blossom will be played by Chloe Bennet. The Agents of Shield star will be looking to overcome the trama of her childhood and once again take her place as the teams leader.

Yana Perrault takes on the role of Buttercup. Best know as the badass in previous version, Buttercup is now looking to leave the superhero world behind and live a life of anonymity.

The CW’s Powerpuff Girls will be penned by Diablo Cody, and produced by creators Craig McCraken, Heather Regnier, alongside Berlanti productions and Sarah Schechter. Maggie Kiley is set to direct the pilot and will also executive produce.
