The Flash crosses over to Supergirl

965x483.jpegThat noise you hear is the Scarlett speedster making his way to National City at lightning speed.  That’s right, the powers that be have given us our wish. The one we’ve been hoping for and speculating about since “The Girl of Steel” was announced last May. Barry Allen/The Flash is crossing over and will meet Kara Danvers/Supergirl on March 28th. According to Entertainment Weekly, details of the episode are being kept under wraps and for good reason. This is going to be a momentous event that is rarely seen, if ever on television, so I wouldn’t be surprised, at all, if we don’t even see any kind of promotional images until the week before the show and I’m totally okay with that.

The fun part now happens with speculation of how Barry Allen makes his way to National City. How does this happen?  Will he be alone or will his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs be joining him. I don’t know about you but I get giddy at the thought of Cisco improving Winn’s tech. But, the other question is this, are The Flash and Supergirl even in the same universe? With the introduction of the “multiverse” in The Flash this could be a trip for Team Flash to head to another earth. The next two episodes set up as a trip to earth 2 which could potentially set up future multiverse trips as well. Could this be another one?

My personal take is that I hope these characters do live in the same universe. Because, it opens up so many possibilities. It opens the door for Oliver Queen/Arrow to make an appearance and even have Supergirl team up with rag tag team of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Does this also hint at a more shared universe for the DCEU and DCTV? Only time will tell. I’ll just leave you with this. When asked about a shared universe producers and show runners have consistently answered with, “There are no plans right now.” One crossover is happening and we can only hope there are many more cinematic/television ones on the way.
