Updated: September 09, 2025

Unlike last month, September saw several contenders for the title of most interesting new releases, almost all of which are sequels to well-known series: a new chapter of Dying Light, a spin-off of Silent Hill, and the long-awaited fourth instalment of Borderlands.

However, few doubt that Hollow Knight: Silksong will easily take the crown, having scared off several projects whose creators decided to postpone their release dates.

Read about these and other interesting September releases in our traditional selection.

Metal Eden

Why it’s interesting: a dynamic cyberpunk action game with parkour and shootouts.

The game is set in a world where humanity has learned to upload consciousness into robot bodies. The main character, the combat android Asuka, becomes the last hope of a dying civilization. She travels to the gloomy metropolis of Möbius to rescue the digital copies of people who once dreamed of a paradise life in this city but then fell under the power of the mysterious Engineers.

The gameplay focuses on a fast pace. Asuka maneuvers between enemies using parkour, wall-running, gravity hooks, and dashes, and transforms into ‘Bronetaran’ to break through barriers. The mobility and vertical acrobatics are reminiscent of Ghostrunner and the latest instalments of Doom — it’s important to keep moving while dodging and attacking. The developers are very fond of colourful special effects: judging by the trailers, the game will be full of cinematic moments with slow motion and spectacular camera angles. Fans of fast-paced action who also enjoy online gaming can combine their gaming sessions with a Stay Casino 20 free spins to try out some of the latest online slots during breaks.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants

Why it’s interesting: DLC about Indiana Jones’ new adventures.

The events of The Order of Giants take place at the same time as the main campaign, in 1937. Indiana Jones finds himself drawn into new dangerous adventures when he meets a young priest named Richie, who desperately needs help. Together, they begin a search for a mysterious artefact linked to the legend of the Nephilim — mythical giants whose order has pursued its goals since ancient times.

Indy will explore abandoned catacombs, ancient crypts and the historic ruins of the Colosseum. The professor will face the cult of Mithras, a new group of enemies secretly guarding an ancient power. He will also take part in secret gladiatorial battles organised by Nero.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Why it’s interesting: the most anticipated release of 2025, judging by the number of wishlists on Steam.

In the sequel to the cult classic metroidvania from Team Cherry, the main character is Hornet, the defender of the ruins of Hallownest from the first part. She finds herself in the kingdom of Farlum — a vast and picturesque world open for exploration.

Silksong’s gameplay is inherited from its predecessor: it is a 2D platformer with intense and challenging combat, detailed environments, and a vast world. In Farlum, players can encounter over 150 new types of enemies and more than 40 bosses. One of the key innovations is the healing system: Hornet uses silk to quickly restore her health, and after death, a cocoon containing the remains of this important resource is left at the place of death. If the cocoon is picked up after resurrection, the silk supply is fully restored.

As in the original, players will have to fill in the map themselves — a new character, Shakra, will help with this, providing Hornet with compasses and diagrams.

The soundtrack is by Chris Larkin, the composer of the first Hollow Knight, ensuring each boss has its own musical theme.

Hell is Us

Why it’s interesting: an action-adventure game from the art director of the latest Deus Ex games.

Hell is Us was created under the direction of Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, who worked on Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. The events of the adventure unfold in an alternate history in 1993. The fictional country of Hadia, ravaged by civil war, suffers from mysterious anomalies that have spawned supernatural monsters invulnerable to conventional weapons. The protagonist, Remi, who left his home as a child, returns to his native land to find his family and uncover the secrets of his past.

The developers often highlight the exploration mechanics: there is no map, compass, or target markers — players must find their way by eavesdropping on dialogues, interacting with NPCs, and carefully studying each location. The world of Hell is Us is divided into several large semi-open areas, similar to Metro: Exodus, which can be traversed using an armoured vehicle. There are also hand-crafted dungeons with unique puzzles and enemies.

The gameplay focuses on close combat. Archaic melee weapons (swords, axes, spears) are combined with the use of a high-tech drone. Battles are complex, requiring planning and aggressive tactics — the developers assure that this is not a soulslike, but in terms of intensity, Hell is Us will come close to this genre.

For owners of the Deluxe Edition, the release will take place three days earlier.

Cronos: The New Dawn

Why it’s interesting: a time-travel horror game from the creators of Silent Hill 2 Remake.

The game takes place in two eras: industrial Poland in the 1980s and a harsh post-apocalyptic future in which a global catastrophe known as the Change has occurred. Players take on the role of the faceless Traveller, an agent of the mysterious Union whose mission is to find temporal rifts, travel back in time, and save valuable members of humanity from the Change.

The combat system stands out from other similar projects with its monster ‘merging’ mechanic: if you don’t destroy the bodies of your enemies, other opponents will absorb them, increasing their strength and turning them into much more dangerous monsters. This makes combat tactically challenging: you not only have to kill enemies, but also burn their remains in a timely manner. Level designers deliberately limit the supply of resources, so you must carefully monitor the fuel consumption of your flamethrower and your ammunition. Overall, the combat is oriented towards classic survival horror: there are no jumps or dodges, enemies are deadly, and every blow can be fatal.

There will also be moral dilemmas: who to save and who to leave behind during trips to the past. People who return to the present will influence both the plot and the skills and abilities of the main character.

The authors’ sources of inspiration include Dead Space, The Thing, Dark Souls, as well as psychedelic films and the realities of Eastern Europe at the end of the 20th century. Despite this, there is room for cuteness: virtual cats, based on the developers’ real pets, serve as collectible items and can be petted.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion

Why it’s interesting: the sequel to the futuristic action game Daemon X Machina about mech battles.

The Titanic Scion campaign is primarily designed for co-op play, but not necessarily in a cooperative setting: asynchronous multiplayer has been implemented — players can find other users’ bases, loot their remains, and interact within a shared world.

The skill system has undergone significant changes: skills must now be obtained from defeated enemies, and some of them can radically alter the pilot’s abilities. However, it is dangerous to get carried away with such upgrades — the character will become stronger but risks losing their human form.

Mech customisation has become more in-depth — players can create unique emblems, choose weapons, armour types, and other gadgets to enhance combat potential. The developers are particularly proud of the visual style of the action, a symbiosis of photorealism and colourful effects typical of manga and anime.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II – Legacy of the Forge

Why it’s interesting: a blacksmithing add-on for one of the best games of the year.

Indrich returns to Kutná Hora to rebuild the burned-down forge where his father once worked. Rebuilding the forge will not only involve constructing a building, but also a journey into the past — the main character will immerse himself in memories, learn about his family’s heritage, and gradually master the art of blacksmithing.

The expansion offers a new chain of quests with tasks for forging weapons and armour, as well as other, more unusual orders from the townspeople. There will also be a unique system for customising your own home and forge: players can personalise their living quarters, workshop, and surrounding areas using a variety of design options. Of course, realism and historical accuracy will be paramount: the developers promise to pay special attention to the details of blacksmithing.

Borderlands 4

Why it’s interesting: the latest instalment in the cult shooter series.

The four Vault Hunters set off to explore the vast expanses of the planet Kyros, where they must battle the despotic Time Keeper, whose power is crumbling due to the catastrophe caused by Lilith at the end of Borderlands 3. The essence of the shooter remains unchanged — it is still a dynamic action game with a variety of weapons and a bestiary of equally diverse enemies.

The new instalment will feature a seamless world divided into four regions, each filled with a multitude of side activities. Players can travel around Kyros on foot or with the help of combat transport, which can also be customized. The looting mechanism has been reworked: legendary items will now drop less often, but standard loot will become more useful.

Each of the four heroes has unique combat skills and styles: Amon specialises in close combat using the elements, Harlow can destroy enemies en masse with telekinesis, Rafa constructs weapons on the fly (from automatic turrets to energy blades), and Vex summons allies. Each will have three basic combat skills with additional modifiers and an extensive levelling system that allows for radically different builds even within the same class. At launch, Borderlands 4 will only have four playable heroes, but the developers promise to add two more characters in DLC.

LEGO Voyagers

Why it’s interesting: a cooperative adventure for two in the world of LEGO.

Two friends become tiny LEGO pieces and set off to rescue an abandoned spaceship, not yet knowing that an adventure beyond their wildest dreams awaits them.

The main feature is that each character is part of a construction set: the heroes can transform, connect with each other, other pieces, and elements of the environment, as well as jump and roll. The visual style and atmosphere are based on minimalism and the absence of words, with the story told through music and environmental design. Nevertheless, the authors promise to pay a lot of attention to the narrative: according to them, LEGO Voyagers is primarily a story about friendship, creativity, and shared adventures that teach us to value the bonds between people.

It is not necessary to buy two copies to play together: Voyagers owners can send their friends a free invitation to join the game.
