‘Uncharted’ Shortlist For Role Of Sully Surfaces As Casting Gears Up

Mar 29, 2019

The Uncharted film that’s been in development for what seems like forever is finally moving along as new information has surfaced. This in the form of new casting information. As we previously learned, Nathan Drake will be in the movie, and Tom Holland has been cast portray the character. According to the studio, Nathan Drake will be “edgy, intellectual, focused as hell, but also complete isolated…”. The movie is also said to be a loose adaptation of the 2007 “Uncharted: Drakes Fortune” game. New information provides us with another character who will appear in the movie, Nathan Drake’s mentor, Sully.

The studio is looking for a Caucasian male, aged 40-49 for the role. The shortlist for Sully includes some big heavyweights in Hollywood, who will surely catch your eye. This list features Chris Hemsworth, Matthew McConaughey, Chris Pine, and Woody Harrelson.

The studio officially released a biography for Sully:

“Rugged and handsome, equal parts refinement and contagious charm, Sully is the kind of guy who turns heads when he walks into the room. Sully is a highly skilled career criminal- he knows how to read a room quickly and impressively, and nothing gets passed him. He becomes Nate’s mentor and teaches him everything he knows, helping mold him from a small-time pickpocket into a skilled thief. Sully has a fun banter with Nate, and though at moments he feels like a father figure to him, in truth he is self-interested above all else. Sully does care for Nate, and goes against his instincts to save him in the end”

All the names on the shortlist seem like good fits given the description, and its obvious Sony-Columbia wants a big name to play Sully. We’re bound to know soon more casting information as the movie is currently lined up to begin production in July 2019.
