Warner Bros. Has Director Gavin O’Connor in Talks to Replace Taylor Sheridan for ‘Fast’

Feb 26, 2019

Warner Bros.’ is in negotiations to bring aboard director Gavin O’Connor to replace Taylor Sheridan on the action-thriller ‘Fast.’

A deal was in progress for Sheridan to direct the film for Warner Bros, but the two could not come to an agreement.

The screenplay will still be from Sheridan, who has an extensive resume. He has written both ‘Sicario’ films, ‘Hell or High Water,’ and ‘Wind River.’ Moreover, he serves as creator, producer, writer, and director on the Paramount Network series ‘Yellowstone.’

Meanwhile, Sheridan wrote ‘Without Remorse,’ directed by recent collaborator Stefano Sollima (‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’). That film stars Michael B. Jordan and will release September 18, 2020. Lastly, he will write and direct ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead,’ starring Angelina Jolie.

Chris Pratt was in talks for a lead role. But, Sheridan no longer attached to direct, thus Pratt’s involvement is unknown.

The logline is below:

“The DEA recruits a former special forces commando to lead a black ops strike team targeting drug dealers under the protection of the CIA.”

Further, the production start date is unknown. O’Connor is still in post-production on another Warner Bros. film: ‘Torrance,’ the sports drama starring Ben Affleck. That film does not have a release date, and neither does ‘Fast.’
