Wastelanders: Hawkeye #1

Now this is the type of story I’m looking for from these Wastelanders stories. Wastelanders: Hawkeye #1 is an action-packed, self-contained story that features a kick-ass cast of Marvel legends.

Set between the original Wolverine: Old Man Logan series and after the Old Man Hawkeye series, Wastelanders: Hawkeye #1 gives insight into the title character’s state of mind between these two titles, in addition to a great story that anyone familiar with Marvel can enjoy. It’s not something that requires an immense amount of prior knowledge. In fact, Wastelanders: Hawkeye #1 is a great introduction for anyone new to Old Man Hawkeye or Old Man Logan. It’s fast-moving, but simple. The action has a purpose, and readers see how some Marvel characters have evolved over time — or remained exactly the same.

Ibraim Roberson, who was also the artist on Wastelanders: Wolverine #1, is a great fit for these stories. Combined with Dijjo Lima, the pair ensure Wastelanders: Hawkeye #1 has the right mix of grit and action from start to finish.

Roberson and Ethan Sacks have altered my perception of this series of one-offs Marvel is producing. Let’s hope Wastelanders: Star-Lord Wastelanders #1 can live up to them.
