Feb 6, 2017

This secret X-Men: Supernova movie seems to not be going away anytime soon. While we stress this film has yet to officially announced by FOX. No returning cast or director has been announced either. However, we have found what seems to be the first plot synopsis for the film that does confirm that this will yet again be a cinematic take (after X-Men: The Last Stand) on the infamous X-Men storyline The Dark Phoenix Saga. It also reveals that production will not begin May 15th but pushed until June 15th in Montreal, Canada. (Update: this synopsis is from the comic not the film. However, still confirms The Dark Phoenix)

Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!

The guys over at My Entertainment World have updated their post with the new production date as well as the synopsis. This would also confirm that this is the 90’s era sequel teased by writer/producer Simon Kinberg in the past:
