Colin Trevorrow’s ‘Jurassic World 3’ Adds Mamoudou Athie to Cast

Oct 17, 2019

The cast of ‘Jurassic World 3’ is shaping up quite nicely. It was recently announced that original ‘Jurassic Park’ cast members, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum would be returning to the franchise. Now comes word from Deadline that Mamoudou Athie is joining the blockbuster sequel too.

Athie is currently starring in ‘Sorry For Your Loss’ on Facebook. He has also been seen in the TV series ‘The Get Down’ and the film ‘The Circle’ with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks.

‘Jurassic World 3’ will also mark the return of Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt, who have anchored the “World” chapters of the ‘Jurassic’ franchise.

No word on who he will playing, but he’ll probably be running from dinosaurs, since ‘Jurassic World 3’ deals with dinosaurs out in the real world. Colin Trevorrow, the at-one-point ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ director, will come back to finish the the rebooted trilogy he started after sitting out for ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.’

The screenplay is from Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael (‘Pacific Rim: Uprising,’ ‘Battle at Big Rock’), with a story by Trevorrow and ‘Jurassic World’ alum Derek Connolly (‘Kong: Skull Island,’ ‘Pokémon Detective Pikachu’).

Additionally, ‘Jurassic World’ cinematographer John Schwartzman is also coming back, with filming set for next spring.

While the casting announcements have been pretty great, there is no news on whether the family seen in the short film ‘Battle At Big Rock’ will appear. That film featured ‘Castle Rock’s Andre Holland, and Natalie Martinez. They were underutilized in what essentially felt like a deleted scene, so hopefully they get to also show up in ‘Jurassic World 3’ with Mamoudou Athie and the rest.

Universal will release the untitled third ‘Jurassic World’ film on June 11, 2021.
