Colin Trevorrow’s ‘Jurassic World 3’ Adds Scott Haze to Stacked Ensemble

Feb 20, 2020

Another day, another casting announcement for ‘Jurassic World 3.’ It feels like ‘Groundhog Day’ framing these ‘Jurassic World 3’ casting announcements but here we go: Hot off the news that Dichen Lachman is joining the cast, comes news of another actor being part of the movie. Deadline reports that Scott Haze is the latest actor to be a part of Colin Trevorrow’s trilogy capper.

Haze, who has been in things such as ‘Midnight Special’ and ‘Venom’ and will join the stacked cast of the sequel. He will next be seen in the mystery/horror film ‘Antlers’ with Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons, from producer Guillermo del Toro.

Haze is a newcomer to the ‘Jurassic’ franchise, along with Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise. They will be joined by ‘World’ veterans Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, and Omar Sy, Justice Smith, and Daniella Pineda. Original ‘Jurassic Park’ cast members Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern are also returning to the franchise.

Scott Haze adds this gig to an already full plate. He will star in ‘What Josiah Saw’ later this year, an Indie film that is directed by Vincent Grashaw. He also has the drama ‘Minari,’ which stars Steven Yeun and received acclaim at Sundance. If that wasn’t enough, he also has ’12 Mighty Orphans’ with Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, and Luke Wilson. Last but not least is another Indie called ‘Wild Indian’ with Kate Bosworth and Jesse Eisenberg. So you are going to be seeing a lot of this guy soon.

But most people will probably see him in ‘Jurassic World 3’ as this is the biggest project he has coming down the pike. The cast is a crowded one, so it will be interesting to see how much wiggle room he has to make something of the role. It is unclear who he is playing, and with specific plot details kept under wraps, it is hard to guess. But with dinosaurs living in human populated areas now, it could be any number of things.

Moreover, the screenplay is from Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael (‘Pacific Rim: Uprising,’ ‘Battle at Big Rock’), with a story by Trevorrow and ‘Jurassic World’ alum Derek Connolly (‘Kong: Skull Island,’ ‘Pokémon Detective Pikachu’).

Additionally, ‘Jurassic World’ cinematographer John Schwartzman and ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ visual effects supervisor David Vickery are also coming back, with ‘Gravity’ editor Mark Sanger and ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ production designer Kevin Jenkins also onboard.

Filming will take place in Vancouver, Canada, from February 24th to March 6th. Also, principal photography will wrap this July, with other shooting locations consisting of Hawaii, Malta, and Pinewood Studios, England.

There will probably be another casting article in a few hours at this rate, so stay tuned.

Universal will release the untitled third ‘Jurassic World’ film on June 11, 2021.
