The long-gestating sort-of sequel ‘Kung Fury 2’ will see the return of Jorma Taccone as Kung Führer, aka Adolf Hitler. He portrayed the role in the original crowdfunded short film ‘Kung Fury.’

Taccone made the reveal on his Twitter account:

Taccone is one-third of the rap parody group ‘The Lonely Island,’ with the trio recently making Universal’s ‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’ and Netflix’s ‘The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience.’ He also had voice roles in Sony Animation’s ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and Warner Bros. Animation’s ‘The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.’ Next, he will appear in Brandon Trost’s ‘An American Pickle,’ starring Seth Rogen.

He joins newcomers Michael Fassbender (‘Steve Jobs,’ ‘Alien: Covenant’), David Hasselhoff (‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,’ ‘Baywatch’), Alexandra Shipp (‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix,’ ‘Shaft’), and Arnold Schwarzenegger (‘The Expendables 3,’ ‘Terminator: Genisys’).

Moreover, David Sandberg (not the ‘Shazam!’ director) returns as star, writer, and director. For the original short, he was the triple threat of writer, director, and actor, playing the titular character. This time, he co-wrote the screenplay with Tyler Burton Smith (‘Quantum Break,’ ‘Child’s Play’).

Further, the premise is below:

“It’s 1985, the best year ever. Miami is kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury (Sandberg), the greatest damn cop of all time. His Thundercops are the ultimate police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler. But after the tragic death of one of their members causes the group to disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon. Kung Fury must travel through space and time to save his friends, defend the prestigious Miami Kung Fu Academy and defeat evil once and for all.”

Meanwhile, the crew comprises of cinematographer Tom Stern (‘Sully,’ ‘The Meg’), costume designer Irina Kotcheva (‘The Hurricane Heist,’ ‘Pandora’), production designer Nick Bassett (‘Rude Awakenings,’ ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’), and visual effects supervisor Rick Sander (‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ ‘Aquaman’).

Filming is currently underway in Bulgaria, likely at the Nu Boyana Studios facility in Sofia. Other shooting locations include Germany, as well as possibly Miami and Los Angeles.

We at the GWW can confirm the wrap date is currently September 26th.

There is currently no release date yet.
