Have no fear Mr Robot fans, the intriguing Joanna Wellick and manipulative Philip Price will continue to make strong power plays in season two. According to the Hollywood Reporter both Michael Cristofer and Stephanie Corneliussen have been promoted to series regulars in their respective roles.
Based on this news it appears that Anegla Martin’s (Portia Doubleday) stint as an Evil-Corp employee might continue beyond her season two arc. Now I am really curious to see where her character is heading, especially under Price’s guidance. After watching Price and Doublebay interact during the season one finale, I am really looking forward to their future scenes. Price will be hunting down Elliot (Rami Malek), while Angela might learn about her best friend’s involvement in the hack and have to pick a side. All is fair in love and business, right?
Really, I am twice as excited to hear that Stephanie Corneliussen is receiving some recognition for her portrayal as Joanna Wellick. There are still so many unanswered questions about her one and only scene shared with Elliot in “zer0-day.avi.” Fingers crossed that Corneliussen and Malek share more than one scene together in the upcoming season. Although, she may have her hands filled with Chris Conroy being cast as her possible love interest; wait… isn’t she married? Even in midst of all this Mr Robot season two news, we’re still left playing where in the world is Tyrell Wellick (Martin Wallström) game? Actually, it would be very entertaining to watch Tyrell court Joanna after he lost his job at Evil-Corp and then went off to save the world with Elliot. I would just like some confirmation that Elliot did not kill Tyrell during the Evil-Corp hack. In the mean time be sure to catch Corneliussen become a supervillain as Dr. Vostock in both DC’s Legends of Tomorrow episodes “White Knights” and “Fail Safe”.
In addition, Entertainment Weekly reports the season two cast will include Rapper Joey Bada$$’s television debut, as Elliot’s fast-talking neighbor, Leon. Based on a report from the Hollywood Reporter about Leon’s character breakdown, I speculate he’s a friendlier version of Vera (Elliot Villar). Even though he played an antagonist, Vera did offer this very spiritual perspective to a series rich in subtext. For example read my game-changer episode five, “3xpl0its.wmv” review. I hope that there are more slight differences between Vera and Leon, than just their respective relationships with Elliot in the series. Leon could be a critical figure in Elliot’s life moving forward as our protagonist reconciles past actions with his present mental state.
