More Pokemon Sword and Shield Details Announced

Jun 6, 2019

Nintendo had its 15 minute Pokemon Direct yesterday as per Nintendo’s tradition to feed us info right before e3.

I like this idea because they have more time to show off all of the upcoming goods for the year at e3 and they give more details on games when they do them before the big event. Yesterday’s Direct included details on the story, structure, features, new Pokemon and most importantly the release date. You can check the full presentation below:

A quick recap in case you don’t want to watch the full video — A new feature in battling called Dnyamax is added to battles as the region exclusive much like Kalo’s and Alola. The Galar Region is heavily focused on battles, which is a huge plus for people who love battling like I do. Dnyamaxing is a feature which lets trainers grow one Pokemon once during battle to epic proportions and improve stats and moves.

Five new Pokemon were announced and they look epic. Gossifleur, Eldegoss, Wooloo, Corviknight and Drendaw. Corviknight is said to fly you around the region aka fast travel like Charizard in Alola.

A new area and feature called ‘Wild Area;

You’ll find a greater variety of Pokémon living here than anywhere else in the Galar region. The Pokémon you’ll run into will change depending on things like the weather or location, so you might see something new each time you visit!

This is new and excited as it resembles the first glimpse at an open world Pokemon game.

Since Galor is focused on battling, there is no question that the competitive edge is back in the main stream games. I’m talking about breeding, IV’s, EV’s, abilities etc. Creating the perfect team will be fun again. This also answers a question I had over a year ago which many of us were concerned about. It looks like they are rolling with seeing the Pokemon in the overworld which, in my opinion, was the best feature in the GO games.

In tall grass or caves, wild Pokémon can jump out at you. Battles with wild Pokémon will occur when you run into Pokémon that you can see wandering around. Some Pokémon will pursue you once they see you, while others will run away.
