UPDATE: ‘Kung Fury 2’ Starring Michael Fassbender Expected Shoot In Bulgaria

Oct 24, 2018

Omega Underground has a small production update to share concerning David Sanberg‘s feature film debutĀ Kung Fury 2 (unlikely will be the final title), which will act as more of a standalone film set in the same universe of the original crowdfunded short but not exactly a sequel.

The cast will include Michael Fassbender, Eiza Gonzalez, Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Hasselhoff, and Sandberg.

We have learned that filming is expected to mainly take place in Bulgaria, after previous stateside locations such as Miami and Los Angeles had been eyed.

They’ll likely be shooting mostly at the Nu Boyana Studios facility in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Bulgaria is becoming a hot-bed for mid-range action films with other projects including London Has Fallen, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Rambo 5: Last Blood, War Pigs, The Mechanic: Resurrection, Expendables 2, Expendables 3, and Expendables 4 (could begin shooting next spring/summer).

Once we get production dates we will update but it’s starting to sound like filming might not start until the new year. Originally, there had been talk of a fall shoot but cast members having other commitments could have been a reason for the delays.

A release date has yet to be revealed.
